This university does a lot of amazing research which is why I chose to study here. The relaxed lifestyle and dress code (even in the pool) helps me live and learn effectively.
I grew up in liberal Denmark. My brother and I had a happy childhood in a loving home. Our parents helped us a lot and took great care that we grew up free and independent.
When I was 15 years old, my family moved into the Biblebelt of the USA. Big house, big cars, swimming pool, but the social life was awful. Everything centred around the church, social contacts were strictly controlled. Sex was said to lead straight to hell, and the locals made sure it did. This meant that my brother and I kept to ourselves, didn't go out much beyond school, church and swimming.
Because the local folks were very prudish, and to stay safe in the sun, we always had to wear jeans or dungarees, with long sleeve shirts or hoodies. Even for school swimming we had to bring an extra set of these clothes to wear in the pool.
During the summer we always went swimming fully clothed in the creek or lake. We had no regular swimwear and I didn't feel the need for it.
As a result of these clothed swimwear rules I'm now a strong and agile swimmer with good endurance. That's why I'm glad swimming in clothes at this university is encouraged.
When I first arrived here I felt very lonely. I didn't have any friends and missed my brother a lot. However, I did join the "Jeans Swimmers", a fitness team who swim in jeans and casual clothes to get fit, the kind of swimwear I was used to in USA. Swimming in jeanswear made me feel more at home.
When I met Timmy in this group, things began to look better. He offered to stay with me for a weekend and we had lots of wet fun together. Later I met Nui, the rainwear nerd, and the Lycra Twins Ping and Pong who opened new ways of wet joy for me.
More later.
